My Story
I have been onstage in a multitude of ways my entire life, and it didn’t exactly come naturally. As a child, I sang in choirs, but being a face in a sea of singers made being onstage much less terrifying. When I was thirteen, I wanted to showcase a song I had written, and so I took my first stab at being alone onstage and singing solo in front of an audience. I was nervous, but I did it, and people seemed to enjoy my song, but when I got offstage, I realized I was shaking and sweating—a bundle of nerves. I didn’t have the tools yet to deal with the pressure of the spotlight, I simply grinned and bore it: a nervous teenager on a big black stage.
This wasn’t the last time this nervous teenager forced herself to stand and perform, and it certainly wasn’t the last time she was filled with reluctancy and dread. But after nearly twenty years of performing and studying the performing arts—acting, singing, and dancing—as well as twelve years of waiting tables (a different form of being onstage), I have mastered the art of commanding the stage, and the audience’s attention, and I have formulated a lesson plan to teach you to do the same.
In college, I studied Classical Voice, Opera, Dramatic Arts, and Ballet. After college, I graduated from a two-year acting program at The Meisner Technique Studio in San Francisco. In my years of study, I have mastered and developed techniques for healthy voice placement and breath support, diction and pronunciation, physicality practices that actors use to be relaxed and natural and yet commanding onstage, and psychological studies on overcoming fears and nerves to feel more grounded and balanced when speaking onstage. My curriculum covers all of these aspects (and more!) to transform you into a master performer, singer, or public speaker.
